GGUSD Students Create Videos for Choose Wellness Campaign Contest

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) students from the district’s eight high schools are participating in a Choose Wellness campaign video contest with a total of $5,000 in cash prizes going to participating clubs. Students were encouraged to create videos that communicate the need to make mental health and wellness a priority and to end the stigma associated with getting help during a mental health crisis.

On Saturday, 3/8, administrators from Bolsa Grande High School and Garden Grove Unified School District were made aware of videos of two students filming themselves on campus, unknown to most of those depicted in the videos, engaging in profane, disruptive, disrespectful and hostile words and actions, including mocking and harassing many students and adults and specifically mocking /harassing Vietnamese students in an assembly and on the campus

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) students at Carrillo Elementary School welcomed civil rights advocate Sylvia Mendez on February 12 during a special assembly. Students presented Mendez with a check worth more than $1,000 to help fund construction of the Mendez Freedom Trail and Monument, which will be located in Westminster.

The seventh annual Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Latino Unidos Conference was held January 11 on the campus of California State University, Fullerton with more than 300 students in attendance. Nine GGUSD Schools Earn Prestigious California Distinguished School Award

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) was well represented in the 2020 California Distinguished Schools Program, which was announced by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond on December 18, 2019. GGUSD placed more schools on the list than any other school district in Orange County with Allen, Cook, Crosby, Excelsior, Hazard, Lawrence, Morningside, Peters, and Stanley elementary schools all receiving the recognition. Schools are recognized for achieving exceptional student performance for two consecutive school years or closing the achievement gap between two school years.
