Registration Set to Open for GGUSD’s Adult Career Pathway Program

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Career & Technical Education will open registration on August 30 for a number of its adult education classes, including heating and air conditioning (HVAC), graphic and internet web design, and personal training.

“This program offers adults an exciting opportunity to get started on a pathway that will lead to high-paying, high-demand jobs,” said Bob Harden, GGUSD Board of Education vice president.  “The Career Technical Education program offers relevant courses that equip students with the skills needed for lifelong success in 21st century career fields.” 

The HVAC (heating/air conditioning) course, teaches entry-level skills in the repair and servicing of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning equipment in residential, industrial, and commercial buildings.  The course, which includes the test for required EPA 608 licensing, is offered as an 18-week or 36-week program, and begins September 11. 

Graphic Design and Internet Web Design classes are also offered. Graphic Design classes begin September 11 and are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The course teaches students how to produce professional quality projects for personal, business, or online distribution using Adobe CS6.  Students will gain design techniques used in the advertising industry, and may enroll in additional sessions to prepare for Adobe certifications.  Internet Web Design courses begin September 12 and are offered on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Students learn how to plan, create, publish, manage and maintain a website and mobile content for personal or professionally in a career as a Web Designer.  Students will learn basic html coding, using Dreamweaver.  Both classes are 18-week programs.

Adults can also enroll for the Personal Fitness Trainer program which is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning September 12 for 18 weeks.  Students will receive instruction on how to evaluate fitness goals, help people improve their muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and more. The course takes place in a classroom and a gym and prepares students for the ACSM certification exam. The class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (6-8:00 p.m.)

Classes in automotive, sewing and tailoring, accounting and AutoCAD are also offered. All classes are held at the Lincoln Education Center, 11262 Garden Grove Blvd. Garden Grove and registration must be completed in person.
