GGUSD to Offer Free Summer Meals

The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is offering its annual free Summer Meal program to help ensure that children have access to nutritional meals when school is not in session. The program will provide free summer meals to GGUSD students at 15 school campuses and two library sites.

This year, the district must return to its pre-pandemic on-site meal distribution program with all meals being provided and enjoyed at the serving sites. The federal and state waivers that allowed districts to utilize the Grab and Go meal delivery method expired at the end of this school year. 
 

Meals will be provided for free to students participating in GGUSD Summer School and Summer Extended Learning Programs. Community meal times are also available at GGUSD school campuses and through Lunch at the Library for children age 18 and under or individuals with disabilities in the GGUSD community who are not participating in GGUSD Summer School or Summer Extended Learning Programs.

“The Summer Meal program is an important resource for families who depend on school lunch for access to healthy food,” said Board of Education Trustee Walter Muneton. “We are proud of our Food Services Department which does a fantastic job of serving meals to our students all summer long.”

Dates/Times

Locations

June 6 through July 15 from 10:05 to 10:25 a.m. for summer school students and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for children age 18 and under and adults with disabilities who are not participating in summer school. No meal service at the high school sites on June 24th.

Bolsa Grande and Santiago high schools

June 13 through July 8 from 9:15 to 10:20 a.m. for summer school students at elementary schools and from 9:20 to 9:40 a.m. at intermediate sites

Eisenhower, Faylane, Garden Park, Marshall, Peters 4-6, Rosita, Russell, Sunnyside, and Wakeham elementary schools; Alamitos, Doig, Fitz, Irvine and Lake intermediate schools

June 13 through July 8, from 10:20 to 10:50 a.m. at elementary schools and from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. at intermediate schools for children age 18 and under and individuals with disabilities who are not participating in summer school

Eisenhower, Faylane, Marshall, Peters 4-6, Rosita, Russell, Sunnyside, and Wakeham elementary schools; Alamitos, Doig, Fitz, Irvine and Lake intermediate schools

June 6 through July 22 at 11:10 a.m. for students in Extended Summer Learning Programs

Carrillo, Eisenhower, Faylane, Garden Park, Marshall, Patton, Peters 4-6, Rosita, Russell, Sunnyside, and Wakeham elementary schools.

June 6 to July 15, Monday through Friday from 12 to 1 p.m.

Garden Grove Main Library on Stanford Avenue

June 6 to July 14, Monday through Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m.

Garden Grove Chapman Library

There will be no meal service on the July 4th holiday at any of the summer meal locations.
