GGUSD Celebrates Hundreds of Homegrown Employees in Social Media Campaign
- Wednesday, January 17, 2018
Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) launched a social media campaign this week to showcase the district’s many homegrown employees. Those who are homegrown are employees who attended schools in the district as students before returning to become district employees. The “GGUSD Homegrown” campaign has already garnered interest from nearly 500 employees who shared their stories through an online form. Some of these stories will be spotlighted on the district’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram social media accounts.
“The fact that hundreds of GGUSD graduates return to work in our schools speaks to the great experience they had as students,” said Dina Nguyen, Board of Education trustee and graduate from Los Amigos High School. “This sense of pride and love for the school district creates a stronger connection with students and with our community as a whole.”
Former students have come back to work in a wide range of departments in the district, including teachers, principals, office clerks, technology specialists, custodians, food service workers, community liaisons, accountants, counselors, and more. Our homegrown employees have worked as little as one year in the district to many who have spent more than 30 years working for the district they love.
In addition to the social media campaign, the district will hold a “GGUSD Homegrown” celebration on April 26, at the Garden Grove Community Center, where all former students turned employees can come together to celebrate with one another.
