Two GGUSD Teachers Honored for Contributions to Music and Arts Education

David Joseph, Choral Director at Pacifica High School and 5th grade teacher Suzanne Fauria of Mitchell Elementary School have been recognized by the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators (OCMAA) while three additional GGUSD teachers were nominated for awards.

David Joseph is being honored as the Secondary Vocal Music Award Recipient, given to an outstanding middle or high school choral music teacher. Suzanne Fauria is receiving the Juliana McGrath Elementary Classroom Award, given to an elementary teacher who does an outstanding job of infusing arts education in their classroom and/or school.

Other GGUSD teachers nominated for awards include Nora Hernandez of Monroe and Russell elementary schools and Fitz Intermediate School who was nominated in the General and Choral Music category, David Martyn of Bell Intermediate School and Enders Elementary School who was nominated in the Instrumental Music category, and Kristen McCullough of Bolsa Grande High School who was nominated in the Choral Music Category.

“GGUSD has an outstanding Visual and Performing Arts program due to the caliber of our teachers who work diligently to provide students with an exemplary arts and music education,” said Board of Education Trustee Bob Harden. “We are proud of our educators for earning this well-deserved honor.

Award recipients and nominees will be honored at the 2024 OCMAA Awards Ceremony coming up in February at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
