COVID-19 Communication
Dear Families,
We consistently aim to ensure information is accurate, transparent, and easy-to-find. As such, we are making a minor change to COVID-19 communication including:
- The district’s COVID-19 Dashboard is now updated weekly to ensure the data is confirmed and up-to-date. As always, positive cases of staff or students who have been on campus during their infectious period (48 hrs prior to symptom onset or positive test results) are posted on the Dashboard for a total of 14 days each. If an individual tests positive for COVID-19 but has not been on campus during his/her infectious period, that case is not posted to the Dashboard. The Dashboard is updated every Friday by 5 p.m. with the cases received during the week and is not updated on weekends or holidays.
- Schools now have the option to send COVID-19 notification messages that list the room number and/or period of the exposure for the day. This eliminates any confusion over which child in a family was affected by an exposure.
As a reminder, district COVID-19 communication is posted on our website here. Families who have questions, concerns or suggestions are encouraged to submit feedback via our online Suggestion Box.
Also, if you haven’t done so, we encourage all families to order 4 free COVID-19 test kits from the federal government at https://www.covidtests.gov/.
Finally, next week many of our schools will host celebrations for the Lunar New Year. School events to celebrate the Lunar New Year include dragon dancers, student performances, fashion shows featuring traditional cultural wear, and much more. GGUSD students represent a wide range of ethnicities and countries that celebrate the Lunar New Year, including Vietnam, Korea, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, among many others.
