Communication from GGUSD
At-Home Test Kits
Dear GGUSD Families,
GGUSD has received its first shipment of free at-home rapid antigen test kits provided by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for students. At this time, Orange County school districts have only received 40% of the test kits promised by CDPH, though we do expect additional shipments to arrive this week.
Based on the limited number of test kits received, GGUSD will prioritize distribution to our elementary schools. This week, GGUSD will distribute the test kits to our elementary schools, though we cannot currently accommodate all schools. School principals will send additional information and instructions to their school communities as the test kits are distributed.
Each test kit contains two tests. You may use the first test now or save it to use when symptoms develop or a potential exposure occurs.
Families who do not want a test kit are encouraged to return it to the school’s main office so it can be provided to others.
As a reminder, students who are close contacts of a school-based exposure can already receive free testing at their school campus during their school’s scheduled testing date each week.
We will share additional information about the distribution of the remaining test kits as soon as we have more information.
As always, thank you for doing your part to keep our schools safe.
