Pacifica High School Students to Adopt Kindergarteners for Unique Holiday Event

Pacifica High School students will adopt more than 300 preschool and kindergarten students for a morning of holiday fun as part of its beloved, annual Adopt-A-Child event on Wednesday, December 14. Pacifica High School’s gymnasium will be transformed into Santa’s Village from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and students will enjoy wish list crafts, cookie decorating, and photographs with Santa Claus.

For more than 25 years, Pacifica High School has hosted its Adopt-A-Child program pairing high school seniors with elementary students from low-income families. This year’s event will serve students from Woodbury, Riverdale, Eisenhower, and Lawrence elementary schools.

“This is a popular event because it allows our high school seniors the opportunity to give back to younger children from their own community,” said Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education Vice President Teri Rocco. “It is always heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of the high school students and their adopted children.”

The senior class, school clubs, and ASB transform the gym into Santa’s Village, and even the maintenance staff joins in on the fun becoming Santa’s helpers for the day as they help put together toys for the children. During the event, high school students provide holiday gifts to each of the adopted preschool and kindergarten students.
