La Quinta High School students in the school’s Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) will perform at the 2022 California School Board Association Conference at the San Diego Convention Center Friday, December 2.  Approximately 30 La Quinta students will take to the stage for a beautiful performance celebrating the Vietnamese culture through dragon dance, lion dance, and traditional dance.

Under the leadership of teacher Vi-Thuyen Dao, La Quinta’s VSA brings together high school students to preserve, cultivate and promote Vietnamese culture. The students organize and participate in many student-led Lunar New Year performances as well as other performances throughout the year.  The club strives to unify and strengthen the community of Little Saigon, home to many Vietnamese individuals in the City of Westminster.

“We are so proud that our La Quinta students were selected to bring Vietnamese culture to life through what is sure to be a spectacular and captivating performance for thousands of school board members from across the state,” said Lan Nguyen, GGUSD Board of Education Vice President.

La Quinta High School’s VSA was selected through a competitive application process of student performers submitted from school districts across California.  The Vietnamese student population is approximately 76% at La Quinta High School and 33% in Garden Grove Unified School District
