GGUSD to Host Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Workshop

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) invites all parents to attend a Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Workshop on Wednesday, November 20 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Fitz Intermediate School, 4600 W. McFadden Avenue, Santa Ana.

The event features a Community Agencies Resource Fair from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a Presentation on Suicide Prevention in Youth by Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and a Community Panel from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. 

According to the National Institute of Health, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 10-24. This workshop will equip parents with important information about mental health trends, mental illness symptoms, and suicide prevention, including warning signs of suicide. 

The event is part of the district’s Choose Wellness Campaign aimed at increasing awareness and providing resources that support students’ mental health and well-being. 

Childcare will be provided for children ages two to ten, and interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Arabic.  Call the Department of Parent and Community Outreach at (714) 663-6084 for more information
