GGUSD Hosts Vietnamese Dual Language Curriculum Showcase

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) hosted a Vietnamese Dual Language Curriculum Showcase on November 14 to provide the community with an overview of the instructional materials used in the district’s new Vietnamese dual language program launched at Murdy Elementary School at the start of the school year.

“We are extremely committed to the success of our Vietnamese Dual Language program and we value community feedback as we work to improve upon the program year after year,” said Lan Nguyen, Board of Education president.  “We are very proud to be one of the few school districts nationwide that offers a dual language program in Vietnamese.”

Parents and community members were invited to attend the Curriculum Showcase that outlined the program and heard presentations from the GGUSD Director of English Learner Programs Luisa Rogers, as well as the Director of K-6 Instruction Monica Ibarra-Acosta.  Following the presentations, guests visited a variety of stations to view the materials and submitted a feedback form.

GGUSD Board of Education President Lan Nguyen along with Board of Education Trustees Walter Muneton and Terri Rocco were also in attendance.
