The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Board of Education recognized Athletes and Coaches of Character from each of the district’s seven comprehensive high schools, and for the first time, recognized a coach and athlete of character from Hare High School, at the January 21 Board of Education meeting. The coaches and student athletes represent a wide variety of sports and help develop and enrich GGUSD athletic programs by modeling respect, teamwork, and a winning attitude.
GGUSD participates in 13 leagues - Coast, Crestview, Empire, Freeway, Golden West, Grove, Kappa, North Hills, Omnicron, Orange, Orange Coast, Sigma, and Tango Leagues and fields over 22 sports with nearly 5,500 high school athletes.
“These students are exceptional role models on and off their fields of play and inside the classroom,” said GGUSD Board of Education Trustee Bob Harden. “They dedicate themselves, not only to academic endeavors, but to athletics which requires them to delicately balance school work, practices, and competitions.”
