GGUSD High Schools Named Among Best in Nation
- Monday, May 8, 2017
U.S. News and World Report named four high schools from Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) among the best schools in the nation. Bolsa Grande, La Quinta, Santiago, and Pacifica high schools earned a silver medal ranking and were named to the 2017 Best High Schools list.
“It is an extraordinary honor to have four of our high schools recognized on a national level,” said Board of Education President Lan Nguyen. “Our high schools have been named to the best high schools list for several years in a row due in part to our steadfast focus on equipping all students for academic success.”
Only the top 6,000 of the 22,000 high schools in the nation receive either a gold, silver, or bronze ranking. U.S. News and World Report partners with RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm on the ranking methodology which is based on measurable academic outcomes that demonstrate a high school is serving all students well. The ranking criteria includes results of state assessments, graduation rates, college readiness, and Advanced Placement tests.
