GGUSD Food Service Employees Have Something Special on the Menu This Holiday Season
- Friday, December 2, 2016
The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Food Services Department will serve happiness and joy as they deliver toys and gifts, in partnership with Project Dignity, to homeless children on the morning of December 17.
The Food Services Department has been collecting toys and working closely with Project Dignity for the past 16 years. Each Saturday before Christmas morning, GGUSD employees and staff from Project Dignity, fill up several vans with donated toys and caravan to area motels to distribute to homeless children and their families. Once the children select their gift, grandparents who are living in the motels, are given the opportunity to choose a toy for their grandchildren.
“The generosity demonstrated by our Food Services employees is remarkable,” said GGUSD Board of Education Trustee Lan Nguyen. “It is clear that the care our employees have for children extends far beyond the walls of our schools and into the depths of our community.”
The Food Services Department is accepting toy donations from GGUSD employees and community members through December 15 at the Food Services Office, 10331 Stanford Ave. in Garden Grove.
Project Dignity is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to low income homeless families living in residential motels in Orange County.
