GGUSD and 29 Schools Recognized for High Achievement in Student Success

Honor Roll Badge

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) was one of 109 school districts to be named a California Honor Roll District, a recognition from Educational Results Partnership (ERP). Additionally, more than 40% of GGUSD schools were named 2023-2024 California Honor Roll Schools.

The California Honor Roll program recognizes school districts and schools that have outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps particularly among higher-poverty student populations. The recognition shines a light on districts that are driving a culture where students learn fundamental skills that employers are looking for. Only 14% of eligible school districts were named to the Honor Roll which had been on hiatus since the 2018-2019 school year.

“Our students and staff have shown resilience and grit throughout the last four years and have demonstrated that no matter the circumstances, they will persevere,” said GGUSD Board of Education Trustee Walter Muneton. “We are so proud of our exceptional teachers and staff who have worked diligently to ensure our students gain academic and personal skills for lifelong success.”

The prestigious 2023-2024 California Honor Roll includes 1,430 high performing schools and is issued by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business Education Excellence (CBEE), a national coalition of business and education leaders.

The 29 GGUSD schools named to the 2023-2024 California Honor Roll include Allen, Clinton, Cook, Crosby, Evans, Excelsior, Faylane, Hazard, Marshall, Monroe, Murdy, Paine, Patton, Post, Stanford, Sunnyside, Zeyen elementary schools; Alamitos, Bell, Doig, Irvine, Jordan, Lake, McGarvin, Ralston, and Walton intermediate schools, Garden Grove, La Quinta, and Pacifica high schools.

The program is part of a national effort to engage business leaders in recognizing successful schools and educational systems and promote best practices that improve student outcomes. California Honor Roll schools exhibit evidence-based instructional practices, learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, and data that monitors and proves high achieving student performance, and more.
