Christmas Comes Early for Nearly 400 GGUSD Kindergarten Students

Adopt a Child

On Wednesday, December 11, Pacifica High School hosted nearly 400 kindergarten students at the school’s annual Adopt-A-Child event where Pacifica High School seniors are paired up with kindergartners who they “adopt” for a morning of gift-giving, cookie decorating, games, train rides, photos with Santa Claus, student performances and other holiday fun.

High school seniors received a wish list from the kindergarten students and purchased gifts with that list in mind. The gymnasium was filled with hundreds of students unwrapping their gifts, participating in the holiday fun, and enjoying a memorable morning with their seniors.

The Adopt-A-Child event has been held annually for more than three decades, providing students with special memories that last a lifetime.

“As a graduate of Pacifica High School, I love attending this event to see the joy it brings to both our Pacifica seniors and our kindergarten students,” said Board of Education President Teri Rocco. “This is truly the heart of GGUSD on display as it allows seniors the opportunity to give back to children in the community in a really special way.”

The senior class, school clubs and ASB transform the gym into Santa’s Village and even the maintenance team joins in on the fun becoming Santa’s helpers for the day as they help put toys together for children.
