Chemical Incident Update #3

Update #3

As per our earlier messages today, 13 schools (Alamitos, Barker, Bell, Bryant, Carver, Enders, Garden Park, Lawrence, Pacifica, Patton, Rancho Alamitos, Skylark, and Wakeham) and 2 District facilities were evacuated early this morning, prior to the start of school, under evacuation orders issued by the Orange County Fire Authority.  Schools not under evacuation orders remained open today and continued normal operations. Since early this morning, we have been in continual contact with the Garden Grove Police Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and City officials, and as shared in their press conferences, this is a dynamic and emergent situation. While conditions remain fluid, we are continuing to work closely with emergency responders and local authorities as they assess impacts to the community.

Our hearts go out to all of our families who were evacuated today. We will be sending separate communications with resources and support information for evacuated families. At this time, we do not yet know what conditions may be over the weekend or into next week, and we will continue to keep families updated as more information becomes available.

We encourage all families and staff to stay up to date with evacuation and safety orders from OCFA and GGPD and stay informed through the City of Garden Grove’s official emergency updates page at City of Garden Grove Emergency Updates. Community members may also call the emergency hotline at (714) 628-7085 or the 24-hour Call Center at (714) 741-5444 for the latest information and guidance.

OCFA is also posting information at https://www.facebook.com/OCFireAuthority/, https://www.instagram.com/ocfireauthority and  x.com/ocfireauthority

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Please continue to monitor your ParentSquare messages (and ensure your notifications for posts are turned on)  for important updates and further developments.
