Garden Grove Unified School District’s (GGUSD) Peters K-3 and Peters 4-6 elementary schools received a special visit this week from Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Pitcher Andrew Heaney and Angels pre-game Radio Host Roger Lodge.

Heaney provided students with encouraging remarks about setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and the importance of teamwork.  Students were excited for the opportunity to ask questions and get an inside look at the life of a professional baseball player.

“This was one school assembly our students will never forget,” said Board of Education trustee Walter Muneton who attended the event.  “It is exciting for our students to see firsthand what can be accomplished if you work hard and never give up.”

The visit was organized through the Angels Baseball Foundation’s Adopt-A-School Program.  In addition to the assembly, the Angels Baseball Foundation donated $2,000 to the school and a school supplies pack for every student.  Peters’ students also received tickets to an Angels’ game.
