41 GGUSD Schools Recognized for Fostering Positive School Climate

A total of 41 schools across Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) have been recognized by the California PBIS Coalition for their outstanding commitment to fostering supportive and positive learning environments—an increase from 28 schools recognized the previous year. The PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Awards honor California schools that effectively implement strategies to encourage positive student behavior and cultivate safe, welcoming school cultures.

Schools are recognized with one of four designations: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Schools receiving Bronze PBIS Awards include: Brookhurst, Hill, and Morningside Elementary Schools, as well as Garden Grove and Pacifica High Schools. PBIS Silver Awardees include Anthony, Marshall, Murdy, Peters 4-6, and Post Elementary Schools; along with Walton Intermediate school. Those being recognized with the Gold PBIS Awards include Crosby, Eisenhower, Evans, Garden Park, Northcutt, Paine, Parkview, Patton, Stanley, and Warren Elementary Schools as well as Doing Intermediate School.

Receiving PBIS Platinum recognition are 19 schools including: Bryant, Enders, Excelsior, Hazard, Heritage, Lawrence, Mitchell, Palomino, Sunnyside, Violette, and Wakeham Elementary Schools, and Alamitos, Bell, Fitz, Irvine, Jordan, Lake, McGarvin and Ralston Intermediate Schools.

“GGUSD’s commitment to Goal 2—building a positive climate and culture—is reflected across our campuses, and the recognition of 41 schools is powerful evidence of that work in action,” said Board of Education President Bob Harden. “These awards reflect the collective efforts of students, families, teachers, staff and administrators who work together to create safe, welcoming and supportive schools where every student feels valued, connected and empowered to be their very best.”

PBIS helps schools to encourage more positive student behavior, increase student performance and improve school climate. The awards from the California PBIS Coalition recognizes schools that are among the best in applying PBIS strategies to promote positive school climate and positive student behavior.
