Mental Health and Emotional Wellness
At Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD), mental health and emotional well-being are important to us. We recognize that life events, personal challenges, and changing circumstances can affect the emotional wellness of students, families, and staff. We would like to remind you that emotional health is just as important as physical health. Periods of transition, uncertainty, stress, or change can bring feelings of worry, sadness, frustration, or anxiety. Supporting the emotional wellness of your children, family members, and yourself is an important part of maintaining overall health and well-being. If you, your child, or a family member would benefit from emotional support, counseling, or mental health resources, please refer to the list of community agencies below. These organizations are available to provide support, guidance, and assistance when needed.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
Mental Health Support: SAMHSA provides free, confidential information, treatment referrals, crisis resources, and support services for individuals and families facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Mental Health Support: OCAPICA provides individual and family counseling for children and adolescents.. OCAPICA has expertise in supporting youth that are Asian or Pacific Islander
BGCGG Family Youth Outreach Program
Mental Health Services:FYOP (Family Youth Outreach Program) provides counseling, educational classes, and other community programs for families with youth who are 18 years old or younger.
Mariposa
This helps students heal from trauma, manage anxiety or depression, and build healthy coping skills. Their comprehensive programs provide a safe, caring space for personal and emotional growth.

At times, some of us will experience a mental health crisis or need to support a child or family member that may be experiencing a crisis. A mental health crisis may look like a number of things but can include extreme changes in behavior, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or actions, etc. If you, a child or family member need crisis support, below are resources for you:

Suicide Prevention Hotline
The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Crisis Prevention Line
The Orange County Suicide Prevention Hotline a local crisis center that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Orange County Crisis Assessment Team
The CAT team provides 24-hour mobile response services to any child or adult experiencing a mental health crisis. Parents can call to consult with an expert at CAT support is needed if a mental health crisis is occurring.
