Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) this week announced that 29 of its schools were named 2016 California Honor Rolls Schools, earning recognition for high achievement in student success, reduction in achievement gaps, and high college readiness in students.

The prestigious 2016 California Honor Roll includes 1,866 high performing schools and is issued by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business Education Excellence (CBEE), a national coalition of business and education leaders.

GGUSD schools named to the 2016 California Honor Roll include Allen, Anthony, Cook, Excelsior, Faylane, Gilbert, Hill, Morningside, Murdy, Paine, Parkview, Patton, Post, Stanford, Stanley, and Sunnyside elementary schools; Alamitos, Bell, Doig, Irvine, Jordan, Lake, McGarvin, Ralston, and Walton intermediate schools; and Bolsa Grande, Garden Grove, La Quinta, and Rancho Alamitos high schools.

Cook Elementary, McGarvin Intermediate and La Quinta High School received a special recognition as a STEM School for high performance in math and science.

“We are proud of our staff and students for their undeniable commitment to academic excellence which has resulted in this special honor,” said Board of Education trustee Walter Muneton.

California Honor Roll schools exhibit evidence-based instructional practices, a system-wide mission of college and career readiness, data that monitors and proves high achieving student performance, and more.
