Registration Set to Open for GGUSD Adult Career Technical Education Classes

Registration for Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Adult Career Technical Education Training Classes is set to open on Monday, April 3, 2017. Interested adults can select from a variety of classes in automotive and accounting career pathways. All classes are held at the Lincoln Education Center, 11262 Garden Grove Boulevard in Garden Grove. 

Accounting with QuickBooks is a nine-week course offered Tuesday and Thursday beginning April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or Monday and Wednesday beginning April 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students learn the basics of QuickBooks, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, reports and graphics, inventory, time and billing, payroll set up and payroll processing, among other accounting concepts. The class costs $200 and basic math and computer skills are strongly recommended. 

Automotive classes are also being offered and cost $450. All classes begin April 17 and meet Monday through Thursday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Students can enroll in Auto Body and Collision Repair, Automotive Spray Painting, and Automotive Careers. Each class runs in nine-week sessions. 

In Auto Body and Collision Repair, students will learn to safely and correctly use appropriate tools and plastic body fillers, set up and adjust a paint spray gun, develop MIG welding techniques, use a plasma cutter, set up and operate a power pull, remove and replace auto body components including bumpers, and identify hidden damage. 

The Automotive Spray Painting course covers both body and spot painting. Students will learn how to use appropriate tools, prepare car surfaces for paint and set up and use a spray gun. 

In the Automotive Careers class, students will learn the skills needed for entry-level employment in the automotive field with classroom and hands-on instruction. Students will prepare for ASE Certification Tests, including engine principals, diagnosis and repair, electrical and electronics, performance and ignition, fuels and emissions, transmissions, brakes, and maintenance. 

GGUSD Adult Career Technical Education classes are taught by experienced industry professionals. The program is a valuable resource for adults in the community looking to start or advance their career.
