GGUSD Employees Receive Grand Slam Recognition at Angel Stadium

Garden Grove Unified School District’s six Classified Employees of the Year and three Teachers of the Year were honored at Angel Stadium for the 2017 School Employee Appreciation Night hosted by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union last month.  GGUSD’s honored guests received free Angel’s game tickets and celebrity treatment during the event.

“What makes GGUSD such a special place is its people and we are so pleased that our classified and certificated employees received this much-deserved celebration” said Bob Harden, GGUSD Board of Education vice president.

GGUSD Classified Employees of the Year who were recognized include Alicia Bustamante, cook/baker at Fitz Intermediate School; Don Haynes, carpenter with the Structural Repair Department; Thomas Tran, assistant network technician; Chris Prince, librarian assistant at Thomas Paine Elementary School; Martha Esparza, school community liaison at Santiago High School; and Rosa Del Rio De La Rosa, GGUSD bus driver.

GGUSD Teachers of theYear who were recognized include Carrillo teacher Carlos Primiani who was selected as a finalist for the Orange County Teacher of the Year program, as well as Carrie Lankford from Fitz Intermediate School and Jenny Jurgemeyer from Hare High School.

Carrillo Elementary School teacher Carlos Primiani and School Community Liaison Martha Esparza represented GGUSD on the field during the celebration which recognized 5,500 of Orange County’s school employees.
