Pacifica High School Students Raise $2,000 in Two Minutes to Feed the Homeless

Pacifica High School’s Navy JROTC and ASB students teamed up with Combat Radio to raise more than $2,000, with help from Mariner students and staff, for the Combat Radio Breakfast to provide food and gifts for homeless children.

“It is amazing to see a whole campus come together for the sole purpose of doing something good for families in need,” said Teri Rocco, Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education trustee. “Our staff and students are caring, generous, and thoughtful.”

Pacifica NJROTC instructor Lt. Cecil is a longtime volunteer at the Combat Radio Breakfast and began getting Pacifica High School cadets involved two years ago. He was inspired by the Wounded Warriors $2,000 in Two Minutes fundraiser and decided to adopt it this year at Pacifica High School to raise funds for the Combat Radio Breakfast.

During the campaign, students and staff have two minutes to gather their donations before taking their collection to a central drop off location. The funds are used for the annual Combat Radio Breakfast hosted in December at the Salt Creek Grille in Valencia.

Last year, Pacifica’s cadets helped feed more than 800 children at the breakfast, and lent a helping hand to Santa as he passed out gifts, dressing up in costumes like Donald Duck and Stormtrooper, to spread holiday cheer.
