Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) schools are hosting a variety of special events this week to honor their teachers for their dedication to the success of the district’s approximately 43,000 students.  The events are held in recognition of California’s Day of the Teacher on Wednesday, May 9 and national teacher appreciation week.

“The passion and student-centered approach GGUSD teachers bring to the classroom is unmatched,” said Bob Harden, Board of Education president.  “We are so grateful for all that our teachers do to equip students with the academic and personal skills for lifelong success.”

The unwavering dedication our teachers have for their students, schools, job, and community help make GGUSD one of the best and strongest school districts in Orange County and across the state.  GGUSD’s outstanding teachers played an important role in the success that led to 11 GGUSD schools being named 2018 California Distinguished Schools and the district’s recent recognition a California Exemplary District.

Hundreds of GGUSD teachers are homegrown employees who graduated from GGUSD schools and came back to work in the district because of the positive difference GGUSD teachers had in their lives as students.

Students and parents consistently nominate their teachers for the district’s Employee of the Month recognition, sharing stories about the transformational work our teachers do each day.  GGUSD’s Public Information Office will share some of those quotes on the district’s Facebook and Twitter page this week using the hashtags #GGUSDLovesOurTeachers and #GGUSDThanksOurTeachers.  Parents, students, and staff are encouraged to participate in the social media conversation with a statement of gratitude about their favorite teachers.
