Garden Grove Unified School District Administrator Receives LULAC Award

Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) Executive Director of K-12 Educational Services Dr. Lorena Luna Sanchez is one of five women being honored as “Orange County Women of the Year” by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Santa Ana Council #147. Dr. Sanchez will be recognized at the organization’s annual awards banquet on November 5 at The Ebell Club in Santa Ana.

The event is being held in recognition of exemplary Hispanic women in Orange County. Recipients are selected based on their accomplishments, community volunteerism, and participation in civic affairs.

Dr. Sanchez oversees the Office of K-12 Educational Services which is responsible for providing assistance to schools while overseeing federal and state supplemental programs.

“Dr. Sanchez is well deserving of this honor. Her work at GGUSD has a significant impact on ensuring that our schools and students have access to the resources they need to excel,” said Teri Rocco, Vice President of the GGUSD Board of Education.

The Office of K-12 Educational Services includes the Assessment and Registration Center (ARC), English Leaner Programs, Evaluation and Research, Gifted and Talented Education, Parent and Community Outreach, and Visual and Performing Arts.
