GGUSD COVID-19 Dashboard

Garden Grove Unified School District and our schools are committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff. During the summer months, positive COVID-19 cases of staff or students who have been on campus during their infectious period (48 hours prior to symptom onset or a positive test result) are posted on our COVID-19 Dashboard weekly and remain on the Dashboard for a total of 10 days each. If an individual tests positive for COVID-19 but has not been on campus during his/her infectious period, that case is not posted to the Dashboard. The Dashboard is updated every Friday by 5 p.m. with the cases received during that week. The Dashboard will only reflect positive cases on summer school and district office sites.

COMMUNICATION PROCESS IN THE EVENT OF POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES

In the event of a confirmed case, the principal will send a ParentSquare message to

  • 1.) all staff
  • 2.) all families of the entire school community listing classrooms where a confirmed case was present during his/her infectious period
  • 3.) close contacts only in instances where close contacts can be clearly identified

Close contact is considered being within 6 feet of an individual with COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more cumulative within 24 hours. The District will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases. The district will report all confirmed cases of COVID-19 to the Orange County Health Care Agency for consultation and an exposure investigation.

GGUSD COVID-19 REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR FAMILIES

If your child(ren) tests positive or has symptoms of COVID-19, it must be reported to your school office. Please call the office and ask to speak with the school secretary. GGUSD schools and staff will maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy, following all FERPA protocols.

GGUSD COVID-19 REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR EMPLOYEES

Employees who have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 must notify their supervisor and not report to work.

WHAT FAMILIES CAN DO TO LIMIT THE SPREAD

It is going to take a concerted effort to keep our students, staff and families safe. In addition to health and safety measures taken on our campus, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of hand-washing, physical distancing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus. If your child has any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, make sure they stay home and get tested if necessary.
